Chest-style box with an arched lid: premium packaging for desserts and gifts
The chest-style box is cardboard packaging with a semi-circular arched lid that resembles a miniature travel trunk. At the Pergament printing house in Chisinau, this box was produced in a 90×90×90 mm format using a one-piece design: the body, the arched end walls and the flexible lid are formed from a single 378×330 mm blank.
The distinctive detail of the design is a burgundy grosgrain ribbon threaded through an opening in the lid and secured with a decorative knot. The ribbon forms a loop handle: the box is easy to carry, and the packaging looks like a ready-made gift that needs no additional wrapping. This solution is especially popular for desserts, bento cakes and confectionery, where the box is often passed from hand to hand.
The box is made of GC1 cellulose board with a density of 210 g/m² — virgin-fibre board suitable for direct contact with food. It is offset-printed in three Pantone spot colours — green, beige and burgundy — on both sides of the sheet: the box carries the brand design both outside and inside, so when it is opened the customer sees a continuation of the brand rather than plain white board. Food-safe inks intended for food packaging were used.
The outer side is protected with matte roll lamination. The matte film protects the print from abrasion and moisture, removes glare and gives the surface a soft tactile effect — the finishing detail that makes packaging premium and increases the perceived value of the product inside.
The chest shape with an arched lid is a complex custom design: a dedicated cutting die was developed and produced for it. At the same time, the Pergament library holds more than 3,000 ready-made cutting dies: for standard projects the client can choose an existing die and save on tooling, while for non-standard projects the printing house develops custom designs of any complexity.
The Pergament printing house produces custom cardboard packaging in Chisinau, Moldova: a full cycle — structural design and die-making, prepress, offset printing with spot colours, matte roll lamination, die-cutting and fitting the box with a ribbon handle. Cardboard packaging for confectioneries, bakeries, chocolatiers and gift brands.
