We produced folding self-assembly cardboard boxes for chocolates and chocolate-coated nuts — in two designs for different product lines at once. It is a good example of how a well-engineered construction and precise print finishing turn an ordinary cardboard box into premium packaging that is also easy to work with on any filling line.
The key feature is the crash-lock bottom that locks itself on three gluing points: no manual fixing and no extra tape — the box pops open and assembles in a couple of seconds with one movement of two fingers, which noticeably speeds up packing.
The box is made of dense cardboard that keeps the geometry of the finished product crisp. Printing and coating were done in a single pass on a press with an in-line coating unit, while folding and gluing ran on our servo-driven folder-gluer — the only one in Moldova — so every box in the run is identical, which is exactly what automatic filling lines require.
