Slider box for chocolates, 275×55×45 mm: gift packaging for a set of six chocolates
We produced a slider box measuring 275×55×45 mm for a confectionery brand’s set of six handcrafted chocolates. Packaging of this format solves two tasks at once: it holds a fragile product securely and presents it as a gift.
Construction: sleeve, sliding tray and insert
The slider box is assembled from three parts: an outer sleeve with full-colour printing, a sliding tray and an insert with six individual cells. The tray glides out of the sleeve like a drawer — the very gesture of opening adds a gift-like character to the set. The insert keeps each chocolate in its own cell: the set stays neat in transit and on the shelf, while the elongated format displays the whole collection in a single row.
The construction was developed individually for the product — both the tray and the insert cells are sized to the chocolates. When the task is standard, there is no need to design a die from scratch: our library holds over 3,000 ready-made cutting dies, from which a suitable size can be selected to reduce the launch cost.
Material and printing
The box is made of GC1 cellulose board with a density of 290 g/m²: it is rigid, keeps its shape, and the white coated face ensures accurate colour reproduction. Printing is offset, full colour. The sleeve features macro photographs of the chocolates in cross-section with the names of the flavours: the buyer sees the filling of each chocolate before purchase, and the packaging works as a showcase.
Matte lamination and spot UV varnish
The surface of the box is covered with matte lamination, while the photographs of the chocolates and the logo are highlighted with glossy spot UV varnish. The contrast between the velvety background and the glossy accents is perceived both by eye and by touch: the images look dimensional, and the box feels more premium. Finishing accounts for a small share of the order cost, yet it changes the perception of the product noticeably — a justified investment for gift packaging.
Lead time and repeat runs
The order was completed on an urgent schedule: one week passed from launch to shipment. The full technological description of the order is stored in the PSystem production system, so a repeat run is reproduced identically to the first — the same board, the same printing and finishing parameters. For brands that order packaging regularly, this guarantees a consistent product appearance from batch to batch.
