Cardboard cup holder for two cups: a sturdy carrier with Pantone brand printing

A cardboard cup holder is a drink carrier that solves a simple but important problem: two cups of coffee or tea can be carried in one hand without burns or spills. For coffee shops, bakeries and delivery services in Chișinău and across Moldova it is more than an accessory — it is part of the service and a daily brand carrier: the customer holds it all the way. This case study features a cardboard cup holder for two cups, 190×100×50 mm.

Construction: cup openings, holding tabs and locks

The product is assembled from a single die-cut blank. Two cup openings with holding tabs are die-cut in the top panel: when a cup is inserted, the tabs fold down and grip its walls tightly, keeping it from shifting or tipping over. The assembled carrier is secured by two die-cut locks — it snaps together without glue or tools.

Individual cutting die

The construction is custom: the cutting die was designed and made specifically for this order. At the same time, Pergament’s clients have access to a library of over 3000 ready-made cutting dies: for standard tasks you can choose a proven construction and save on tooling, while for non-standard solutions the print house develops an individual form.

Material and printing

The material is GC1 cellulose board, 315 g/m², 0.55 mm thick. It is a rigid board with a coated face and white reverse: it bears the weight of two full cups, does not deform under load and provides a quality base for printing. The printing is offset in two Pantone spot colours — green (Pantone 7491) and beige (Pantone 9184). Pantone printing guarantees an exact match to the brand colours and their consistency across the whole run — essential for packaging that works as a recognisable element of brand identity.

Finishing and automated assembly

The print is covered with matte roll lamination: it gives the surface a restrained premium look without glare and protects the product from abrasion and moisture in daily use. The final stage is folding and gluing on an automatic line with cold glue: the process is fully automated, ensuring stable geometry and consistent quality of every item in the run.
